The Benefits Of Honey For The Skin

Is it possible that the secret of preserving youthful appearance lies more in your kitchen pantry than in your make-up bag?  Because of Honey’s nutrient-rich profile, it has been used internally and externally for a variety of other benefits. One such use is as a  helpful tool in supporting a healthy body and glowing appearance.  Since ancient times and praised by many celebrities, honey is a truly excellent product that can be easily integrated in your beauty routine. The best part about honey is that while it can be used with other ingredients, it is powerful enough to be used by itself.
Honey has wonderful anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, therefore it helps to fight skin infections, and can calm and heal the skin over long term. Honey exfoliates the skin and maintains the level of moisture without making the skin oily – so it hydrates and cleanses at the same time. Honey leaves the skin soft, clean and glowing – it is an excellent treatment for dry skin or dull skin.
While there are multiple recipes and ways you can use honey in your beauty routine, we have included a few simple and quick ones just to get you started. Just make sure that you use raw honey and YES we do prepare and sell several of these items:

Simplest Face Mask With Just Honey

This is the simplest natural beauty recipe. It has only one ingredient – raw honey. It is so mild on the skin that most people especially those with sensitive skin can benefit from its gentle cleansing and purifying effects. Just apply a spoon of raw honey on the face as a mask and leave it for about 20 minutes. Rinse off. Repeat a few times a week.

Cucumber-Honey Toner:

Puree 1 cucumber in a blender, drain and collect the juice. Add 2 teaspoons of honey into the juice and mix. Pour the mixture into a bottle. Apply on the face and neck area with a cotton pad in the morning and at night. Air dry it and rinse clean. Store the bottle covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Honey-Apple Toner:

In a blender or food processor, combine 1 peeled, cored apple with a tablespoon of honey and pulse until smooth. Apply mixture to face and allow it to stay for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Honey-Oats Face Scrub:

Combine 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon finely-ground almonds, 2 tablespoons dry oatmeal, and some lemon juice or yogurt to a luxurious and exfoliating facial scrub. Massage mixture gently onto face, then rinse with warm water. This blend gives a deeply emollient cleansing to the pores of your face. Almonds and oats are superb softening exfoliants.

Gentle Honey Cleanser:

Mix 1⁄4 cup honey, 1 tablespoon liquid soap and 1⁄2 cup glycerin (found in drug stores). Apply gently on to face using a face sponge. Rinse with warm water and pat face dry.

Hot Honey Bath:

Perhaps the easiest natural skin care recipe using honey — Add 1/4 cup of honey to your hot bath water for silky and luscious skin. This is especially good for dry skin.

Honey Lip Plumper:

Not only is honey a great lip balm that stops your lips from drying out and cracking, it can also be applied as a lip gloss to make your lips appear softer and fuller. What a natural way to perfect the pout!
One great thing about honey is that it is perfect for all skin types as it hydrates and cleanses at the same time. Also, do not forget to use the most natural honey you can possibly find – the quality of honey has huge effects on the result of the treatment.

Use only Raw Honey:

Experts insist on the use of raw honey for optimal health and beauty benefits. Raw honey is strained, never ultra-filtered or heated. Research suggests it’s loaded with many trace minerals, organic enzymes, antioxidants, plus antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that make it a powerful package of health. Its rich origins mean that it’s loaded with more interesting taste and flavor.
